Lauren Eonta wins at #5 Singles

(Clarion, Pa.) Clarion's Jaclyn Metzger, Michaela Hardy and Lauren Eonta notched singles wins, and the Golden Eagles swept all three doubles matches to notch a 6-3 win over Shippensburg in the nightcap of a doubleheader Friday night.

With the win, Clarion improves their record to 1-2, while Shippensburg falls to 0-1. Clarion lost 8-1 to East Stroudsburg earlier in the day.

Clarion's three victories in singles competition started when Jaclyn Metzger defeated Hannah Lolley at #1 singles by a 6-0, 6-4 score. Michaela Hardy then defeated Monica Berardi at #2 singles 6-3, 6-1 and Lauren Eonta won 8-2 over Laura Babetski at #5.

Clarion's #1 doubles team of Metzger and Hardy defeated Berardi and Lolley 8-1; while Sturdivant and Gibson beat Rubin and Wagner 8-6 at #2 and Bucheit and Eonta defeated Sidone and Snader 9-7 at #3.

Clarion will host Bloomsburg on Saturday at 11am at the Campbell Courts.
