GOLDEN EAGLES TIE No. 8 SLIPPERY ROCK 1-1

Saussol finished with 12 saves for the Golden Eagles.

Box Score CLARION, Pa. – Behind a first half goal from Stephanie Sikora and a strong performance in goal by Laura Saussol, the Clarion University women's soccer team tied No.8 Slippery Rock Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium.
 
With the tie, the Golden Eagles now have seven points which is the most points Clarion has recorded through three PSAC matches in school history.
 
"Saussol was outstanding for us tonight," said head coach Rob Eaton.  "Laura had one key save in the first half which turned out to be huge for us."
 
Sikora got things started in the 30th minute when she took a pass from Liz Ventura which gave the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.
 
Slippery Rock (1-0-1, 1-0-1 PSAC) answered in the next minute when Andrea Felix scored to tie the game at one.
 
Saussol finished with 12 saves for the Golden Eagles with one key stop coming in the first half in the 37th minute to keep the game tied at one.
 
"Laura needed that save," said Eaton.  "She has been consistent so far for us and we have been rallying around her."
 
Slippery Rock finished with 20 shots in the game while the Golden Eagles had five.
 
Clarion (2-0-1, 2-0-1 PSAC) returns to action at 6 p.m. Saturday where it will travel to California Pa.
