CLARION NETTERS TOP PSU-ALTOONA & GENEVA BY 8-1 SCORES (Altoona, Pa.): The Clarion University Women's Tennis team opened up their 2014-15 campaign with identical 8-1 wins over Penn State Altoona and Geneva in Altoona, Pa. on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles, who won 11 of 12 singles and 5 of 6 doubles matches on the day, pushed their season record to 2-0.
In the win over PSU-Altoona
Lauren Zezenski defeated Michelle Colucci 8-1 at #1;
Megan Bettwy downed Christina Thompson 8-3 at #2;
Madeline Robinson defeated Regina Sanchez 8-4 at #3; Jesica Kennelly downed Olivia Brown 8-2 at #4;
Maria Snyder defeated Taryn Kramer 8-1 at #5 and
Allison Probst lost an 8-2 decision to Madison Caplan at #6.
In doubles play Zezenski and Bettwy defeated Colucci and Sanchez 8-3 at #1; Kennelly and Snyder defeated Thompson and Kramer 8-3 at #2 and Robinson and Mulligan downed Brown and Caplan 8-1 at #3.
In the win over Geneva Zezenski defeated Elizabeth Stewart 8-1 at #1;
Megan Bettwy won 8-1 over Sara Stoll at #2;
Madeline Robinson won 8-0 over Samantha Jensen at #3;
Jessica Kennelly won 8-6 over Megan Hinds at #4;
Maria Snyder defeated Jennifer Bullock 8-3 at #5 and
Jessica Dgien defeated Hilary Kinney 8-4 at #6.
In doubles Zezensky and Bettwy won 8-2 over Stewart and Jensen at #1; Kennelly and Snyder lost to Stoll and Hinds 98 at #2 and Robinson and Mulligan defeated Bullock and Bartoletta 8-3 at #3.
The Golden Eagles will play Pitt-Greensburg Sunday at 11am at the Greensburg Raquet Club.
