Mike Kalinowski and Joe Lodanosky will have the radio call for the game on 92.9 WCCR-FM and  96.3 WKQW-FM an hour before kickoff.  Live audio streaming will be available on ClarionGoldenEagles.com.  The game will be aired live on SPORTSfever and as such will also be available on the Watch ESPN app.
Series History
This will be the 86th meeting between Clarion and California (Pa.), with the Vulcans owning a 44-38-3 record in the all-time series with the Golden Eagles. Â Clarion has not topped California (Pa.) since a 35-34 win in the 2004 season, with the Vulcans winning 11 straight meetings since then.
In their last meeting the Vulcans won a high-scoring affair, defeating Clarion 42-28 at Adamson Stadium. Â Clarion tried to rally back from a large deficit in the second half in the midst of a constant rain. Â
Delrece Williams had 112 rushing yards and a touchdown, while
Kevin Genevro had six catches for 87 yards and two scores.
Scouting the Vulcans
California (Pa.) is ranked 15th in the most recent AFCA coaches' poll taken on Oct. 3, and 16th in the D2Football.com poll taken the next day. Â The Vulcans lead the PSAC in both scoring offense (56.4 points/game) and scoring defense (14.8 points/game).
The Vulcans feature a balanced attack that is led by quarterback Michael Keir, who has thrown 18 touchdowns and just three interceptions so far this year. Â Seven different players have scored rushing touchdowns and seven more have added receiving scores this year. Â The defense has forced 13 turnovers in five games and is averaging 4.0 sacks/game.
Last Week
Clarion suffered its second straight loss Saturday afternoon, falling on the road to Seton Hill by a final  of 27-23. Â
In his first career start,
Jeff Clemens threw for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and added a one-yard rushing touchdown to his stat-line as well. Â Wide reciever
Kevin Genevro led the Eagles in receiving with five catches, two touchdowns, and 69 total yards.Â
On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker
Jacob Craig led the team with 12 total tackes, including four solo tackles and three pass breakups. Â
Myles Edmonds and
Quinlin Lambert each recorded seven solo tackles as well. Â
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, though Clarion entered the fourth quarter with a 23-10 lead over the Griffins. Â Seton Hill responded with 17 points in the final frame to take the win.
First Time Around
Redshirt freshman quarterback
Jeff Clemens made his first career start on Saturday in place of
Connor Simmons, and the Wexford, Pa. native acquitted himself well in the face of a hostile road crowd. Â He completed 16 of 32 passes for 176 yards, two touchdowns and - most importantly - no interceptions against the Griffins. Â He also called his own number in the first half, scoring on a one-yard quarterback keeper for a touchdown.
Clemens previously saw action twice this season. Â He came in late against Lock Haven in the season opener on Sept. 1, and was next seen completing both passes he threw in Clarion's loss to Edinboro on Oct. 1.
Long Distance Runaround
Kyle Evans remains one of the more versatile options in the Clarion arsenal, and continued that trend against Seton Hill on Saturday. Â Though he has had extensive experience at wide receiver this year, Evans made his first career start at running back against the Griffins. Â He finished the game with 201 all-purpose yards, including a career-high 51 rushing yards on 14 carries and 137 kick return yards. Â On the season he is averaging 98.8 all-purpose yards per game, including nearly 300 receiving yards on the year.
2K Sports
Matt Lehman notched three receptions for 44 yards against Seton Hill to continue his climb in the all-time record books at Clarion. Â The senior receiver now has 136 career receptions - 4th in program history - and 2,167 career receiving yards, good for fifth on the all-time list. Â He passed Ron Urbansky for sole possession of that spot in the game against the Griffins.Â
Though he's been kept out the endzone in each of the last three games, Lehman is still on pace to tie or break the all-time receiving touchdowns mark. Â With 21 scores in his career, he's tied for third in program history with Jim Becker. Â He needs two more to reach Alvin Slaughter and four more to tie Terry McFetridge's mark of 25 set in 1985.
> Against Mercyhurst Lehman became just the seventh player in program history to top 2,000 career receiving yards. Â
Pushback
Sophomore defensive lineman
Brandon Vocco had his best day in uniform against Seton Hill on Saturday, with the 300-pounder from Lilly, Pa. disrupting the Griffins' plans with ability to get in the backfield. Â Vocco finished with a career-high nine tackles - a mark that tied his total from a year ago and nearly doubled his season output to date. Â He recorded his first career sack as well.
Stack 'Em Up
Sophomore linebacker
Layne Skundrich has shot to the top of the Clarion defense in regards to tackles over the last three weeks. Â He has totaled 31 tackles in the last four games and is averaging 7.3 stops per game.
Joining him at the top of the list is
Jacob Craig, who had a standout performance against Seton Hill. Â Craig finished the game with a career-high 12 tackles and also recorded a game-high three pass break-ups against the Griffins. Â
Making a Splash
Tyrone Cromwell recorded his first career interception against Seton Hill, setting up Clarion's third touchdown of the game against the Griffins. Â He hauled in a pass intended for Cory Cavanaugh at the Clarion 41-yard-line and raced down the field, taking it all the way back to the Seton Hill 5 before being brought down. Â On the very next play
Jeff Clemens connected with
Kevin Genevro for their second touchdown hookup of the game.
Cromwell ranks four on the team with 32 total tackles on the season and has broken up four passes this year as well.
Pick Your Poison
Matt Lehman and
Kevin Genevro have climbed towards the top of the list in the PSAC in most receiving categories. Â Lehman ranks seventh in yards per game at 83.3 while Genevro is eighth at 83.2. Â As far as actual receptions go, Lehman and Genevro are both tied for 11th in the league with a 5.2 receptions per game average.
> Genevro, though, is the player that has been more skilled in getting into the endzone this season. Â The senior receiver ranks second in the PSAC with seven total touchdown receptions this year, one behind leader Garry Brown of California (Pa.).
On the Road Again
Clarion has played much of the early schedule on the road this year, with last week's game against the Griffins representing the fourth time in five weeks the Golden Eagles were away from the friendly confines of Memorial Stadium.  Things even out the rest of the way, though, as Clarion plays four of the final five games  on the slate at Memorial Stadium.Â
Lights, Camera, Action!
Clarion University will continue its fruitful partnership with the Pennsylvania Sports Fever Television Network in 2016, with three contests – 9/10 at Bloomsburg, 10/1 vs. Edinboro and 10/15 vs. California (Pa.) – airing live on affiliates across the state of Pennsylvania and made available to millions in the Keystone State.  The selected games will also be streamed on ESPN3 via the Watch ESPN app.Â
Airborne Rangers
2015 Don Hansen Third Team All-American wide receiver
Matt Lehman and fellow returning starter
Kevin Genevro return to wreak havoc on opposing defenses in 2016, with the duo accounting for a total of 26 touchdowns last year. Â Lehman set a new program record with 15 receiving touchdowns last year, breaking Alvin Slaughter's record of 13 set in 1998, while hauling in a total of 67 passes (fifth all-time) for 979 yards (third). Â Genevro provided a strong counter-punch for Lehman, catching 42 passes for 886 yards (21.1 yards per catch) and 11 scores.
Those two won't be the only ones looking to make noise this year. Â
Kyle Evans provided a slot option for the offense last year and will try to take more strides forward in 2016, while tight end
Gage Clark averaged nearly 20 yards per catch last year with one touchdown.
Double Threat
Junior running back and 2016 co-captain
Delrece Williams provides a multi-dimensional threat to the Golden Eagles in the backfield. Â The 2015 second team all-conference selection ran for 978 yards and six touchdowns last year but was also effective in the passing game, ranking third on the team in receptions (31) and receiving yards (465) while also catching four touchdown passes.
The Buck Stops Here
The Clarion defense returns just three players that started more than half of last year's games, but that doesn't mean there isn't a considerable amount of experience taking the field. Â Second Team All-PSAC West and CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American
Matt Koerper returns to the defensive line after his best year as a Golden Eagle.
The secondary features veteran leadership in senior
Adam Lynch and junior
Colton McKay, while senior
Jacob Craig is the ranking leader in the linebacking corps for the Golden Eagles' 3-3-5 formation. Â
Myles Edmonds is another veteran hand in the secondary, having started 20 straight games before missing the first three of the season due to injury.
Up Next
Clarion plays its final road game of the 2016 season when they take on preseason PSAC West favorite IUP in Indiana. Â Kickoff time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
