HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Clarion women's tennis team took three of six singles matches on the court on Thursday, but the Golden Eagles were unable to overcome Ashland in falling 6-3 to the Eagles in South Carolina. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 2-3 in dual matches this year.

Vinisha Reddy cruised to an impressive win in the No. 5 singles match, beating Jordan Martin by two big margins to take the victory. Reddy won the first set by a perfect 6-0 score and nearly turned the trick again in the second set, winning 6-1 to outpace Martin for the victory.

Joining Reddy in earning a straight-sets win was
Michelle Petrilla, who held off Chelsea Myers in a close second set for the win. Petrilla authored an easy 6-1 win in the first set but held off her opponent in a tight second set, winning 6-4 for the win. Also winning on Thursday was
Sarah Robbins, who trailed Kendal Stephens in the second set of their No. 3 singles match but got the win when Stephens retired due to an injury.
