SOUTH PARK, Pa. – The Clarion women's tennis team fell on the road to a conference opponent on Saturday, dropping a 9-0 decision to the California Vulcans at Glen Creek Tennis Club. With the loss, the Golden Eagles are now 2-7 in dual matches on the season and 0-3 against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponents.

The Golden Eagles were shorthanded against the Vulcans, playing with just five individuals on Saturday, and as such conceded two points to California. In doubles action,
Maria Snyder and
Sarah Robbins fell by an 8-0 score on the No. 1 court while
Jessica Kennelly and
Michelle Petrilla dropped an identical decision in No. 2 doubles.

In singles action, Kiefer Shaw opened things with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Snyder at No. 1. Robbins put up a good fight in the No. 2 singles match, rallying back and forth with Jasi Witherspoon before falling 6-1, 6-2. Kennelly fell 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles match, and Petrilla and
Allison Probst each lost straight sets decision at Nos. 4 and 5.
