CLARION, Pa. – The Clarion women's tennis team picked up an exciting tiebreaker victory at the No. 1 doubles spot, but the Golden Eagles ultimately fell to Slippery Rock by a score of 8-1 at Campbell Courts on Wednesday. With the loss Clarion falls to 4-10 overall and 0-6 in PSAC competition.
The highlight of the day came at the No. 1 doubles spot, where
Alivia Arnold and
Maria Snyder combined for a thrilling tiebreaker victory over The Rock's top doubles pair. The match with Carla Corrachano and Tiffany Kollah was a tight one, with the two duos tying up at 8-8 after 16 games of action. The tiebreaker between the teams was just as close, with Arnold and Snyder pulling out a 7-5 score there to claim the 9-8 (5) decision.
Slippery Rock controlled the rest of the match, claiming all six singles matches on the court. The closest effort came in No. 6 singles, where
Michelle Petrilla battled Allie Welch but ultimately lost 6-2, 6-2.
