GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Clarion men's diving team concluded its week at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, with
Cary Johns earning All-America Honorable Mention recognition in the 3m Dive.
Â
Johns posted a score of 475.45 in the preliminary round on Saturday, coming up just one spot shy of making the finals and securing an All-American nod but still performing his best of the season. According to diving coach
Dave Hrovat, Johns' work on Saturday was exemplary.
Â
"Cary's lifts on Saturday were some of the best he had all year long," Hrovat said. "Like the 1m Dive on Thursday, it was a loaded field and our guys battled. I'm so proud of how they responded all year long, and especially this week. For Cary and Mikey [Allison] to do this in their first trip to NCAA's is pretty special."
Mike Allison also competed in the preliminaries on Saturday, taking 17th with a score of 408.30.
