WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Clarion wrestling team rebounded from two early-day losses to pick up a win in their third attempt, finishing off a full day of action at the Boilermaker Duals hosted by Purdue.  The Golden Eagles (1-3) will not have another dual match until hosting Lock Haven on Dec. 21, but their next action will be at the Cliff Keen Invitational in December.
 
Ty Bagoly was the sole Golden Eagle to go 3-0 on the day, recording a win by decision over Northern Illinois's Max Ihry and pinning Purdue's Thomas Penola just 1:07 into the first period.  He wrapped his day with a win by decision over Indianapolis's Jack Williams.

It seemed like Clarion could be on their way to the program's first-ever win over Northern Illinois, with Taylor Ortz working Nathan Swartz for a 17-0 technical fall in the first bout on the mat.  Brock Zacherl won his 46^th straight dual match decision with a 5-3 win over McCoy Kent, but the Huskies won five straight individual bouts to build up their team lead.  Bagoly stopped the bleeding with the decision over Ihry, but Bryce West sealed the dual win with a 4-2 decision over Jake Gromacki at 125 pounds.  It was Gromacki's first action in a Blue & Gold singlet since suffering an injury in January 2018.

The 25^th-ranked Boilermakers proved to be a tough task for the Golden Eagles, winning all but one bout en route to the 34-6 win.  Zacherl saw his 46-match dual win streak snapped when 13^th-ranked Griffin Parriott held him off for a 4-2 decision, and Greg Bulsak led Christian Brunner in the 197-pound bout before Brunner reversed Bulsak and put him on his back for a pinfall victory.  Bagoly responded in kind in the heavyweight bout, hip-tossing Penola on the latter's shot.  It took nearly a minute to finish Penola off but Bagoly did just that, working him down for the pin.

Clarion rebounded at the end of the day with a spirited effort against UIndy, winning seven of the 10 bouts against the Greyhounds.  Four of those wins came by fall, with Jalin Hankerson, Hunter Michaels, Cam Butler and Seth Koleno all flattening their opponents for victories.  Of those four results, three game in the first period, with only Butler needing a second period to defeat Nick Brady.  Roshaun Cooley started things off with an 8-3 decision, and Hankerson and Michaels finished off back-to-back pins to make it a 15-0 match advantage.  A couple of nationally-ranked Greyhounds pulled things closer, but Bulsak defeated Zach Fry by major decision to set things right again.  Bagoly won his third bout of the day, and Butler and Koleno finished it off for the win.
