Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. – The Clarion tennis team resumed action for the spring season on Saturday afternoon, falling 7-0 to West Liberty in Wheeling. The Golden Eagles (1-1) will next be in action during a prolonged spring break trip to Hilton Head Island in March.
The Hilltoppers opened the match with a strong effort in the doubles session, winning all three doubles matches to clinch the extra point. The Golden Eagles put forth a good fight in the six singles matches, but West Liberty was able to take all six singles matches to finish off the win.
Alivia Arnold had the best battle of the day, giving Raissa Wagner everything she could handle in the No. 1 singles match. Arnold held close with Wagner in both sets but Wagner eventually held on for the win, taking a 6-3, 6-3 decision. Senior
Vinisha Reddy had a strong start against Chloe Riley at the No. 2 spot but ultimately fell in straight sets after failing to take a game in the second set.
Throughout the rest of the lineup, West Liberty was in control, taking the remainder of the matches on the court in straight sets.
