YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Golden Eagle track & field team opened up their 2021-22 indoor season on Friday, showing well at the YSU Icebreaker hosted by Youngstown State.

In the distance events,
Haley Schaller recorded one of the top performances on the team, finishing seventh in the 5000m. She recorded a time of 19:09.49, while teammates
Abby Sullivan and
Gabby Kutchma also posted top-10 finishes. Sullivan crossed the line in 19:27.71, while Kutchma finished the race in 19:30.57.
Bailey Royhab had a good day in the 3000m, recording a time of 11:46.15.

Shelly Jones enjoyed a great day in the throwing events, placing 12
th in the Shot Put. The sophomore put the shot 12.04m, good enough to place her fourth among Division II throwers in the event. That also qualified her for the PSAC Indoor Championships, clearing the standard of 11.50m.
Emma Pesicka was just behind her, recording a mark of 11.35m.

In the sprints,
Emily Prasko had a strong day in her college debut. She placed 16
th in the 400m, recording a time of 1:00.57 that was just 0.17 from cracking the top-five in program history. That time also ranked well among the Division II competitors at the meet, coming in at fourth among that grouping. She was just 0.07 short of hitting her PSAC qualifying mark in the event as well.
