Gerald Jarmon Scores 30 Points as Men's Basketball Rolls Over Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Gerald Jarmon had a career night, scoring a career high 30 points as the Clarion men's basketball team caged the Bloomsburg Huskies at E.H. Nelson Fieldhouse by a final score of 101-90. The Golden Eagles snap a four game skid to improve to 7-8 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC conference, while the Huskies fall to 3-11 on the year and 2-8 in the conference.

Jarmon paced the Clarion offense scoring 30 points on 9 of 16 shooting in just 30 minutes of action, while grabbing five rebounds.

Sure shooter Connor Ferrell added 19 points to go along with five assists and four rebounds, while Jordan Agyemang and Mekhi Reynolds added 15 points and 11 points respectively.

The Golden Eagles managed to shoot a tremendous 62% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc, while knocking down 18 of 25 free throws throughout the game.

The lead changed nine times, but it was all Clarion in the second half as they outpaced the Huskies throughout the entirety of the second half, leading from just under 16 minutes in regulation and never looking back.

Both teams traded baskets back and forth the entire first half, but it was Bloomsburg that held an eight point lead heading to the locker room at the half, despite Clarion shooting 48% from the field.

It was all blue and gold in the second half as Clarion shot a monstrous 76% on 22 of 29 shooting and a perfect 6 of 6 from beyond the arc, catching fire at the right time.

Clarion battled back from the eight point deficit and after a Mason Mraz three put Clarion down just one point, 48-47, Reynolds made a jumper at the 15:32 mark to give the Golden Eagles a one point lead and never looked back.

Jarmon made back to back jumpers in the next two possessions for the Golden Eagles pushing their lead to five points. The Huskies scored clawed back, being down just one possession at the 12:35 mark, but after multiple baskets in transition and a three pointer from Kai Kueper, the Golden Eagles held a comfortable nine point lead with just over 11 minutes left to play.

Kaison Branch picked the pocket of Justin Rodriguez and found Jarmon streaking down the court for an easy layup, putting Clarion up double digits as the confidence continued to build for the Blue and Gold.

Clarion stretched their lead to a game high 14 points after Jarmon knocked down a free throw, but Bloomsburg wouldn't go away. The Huskies cut the lead to six points with 5:42 left in the game, but Clarion slammed the door on any comeback thoughts after a pair of free throws from Jarmon and a three pointer from Reynolds pushed the lead back to double digits.

The Huskies would try to stop the clock as much as possible, fouling the Golden Eagles but to no avail, as Clarion took the game by a final score of 101-90.

The Golden Eagles will look to push their winning streak to two games as they start a three game road trip, heading to Erie to take on the Golden Knights of Gannon on January 26th. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 pm.
