EDINBORO, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle volleyball team won their fifth straight match and third consecutive away from home on Friday night, sweeping Edinboro 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-18) at McComb Fieldhouse.

Clarion's defense made life difficult for the Fighting Scots' attack, holding them to a miniscule .028 attack percentage for the match. In two of the three sets Edinboro was held to a .000 attack percentage with as any successful attempts as errors. The Golden Eagles out-blocked the Fighting Scots 11-4 and out-dug them 51-31, led with 21 digs by
Abigail Selfridge in the latter category. Three Clarion athletes reached four total blocks on the night, with
London Fuller chipping in two solo blocks to go with her 33 assists.

Cassidy Snider warmed up as the night went on, finishing with a match-high 18 kills and a .282 attack percentage in three sets.
Julia Piccolino and
Charlie Allison contributed seven and six kills, respectively.

Edinboro got off to an early lead in the first set but the Golden Eagles responded with a 5-1 run to take a 10-7 lead, capping the rally on a block by Allison and Fuller against Natalie Pallone. The lead soon stretched to 18-10 as Clarion embarked on a 6-0 run that included two blocks by
Savannah Taosoga and a rare kill from Selfridge. Snider forced set point with a kill and the pair of Taosoga and
Finley Kearney blocked Erike Lindqvist on set point for the win.

Clarion started the second on a 7-2 run, but a Fighting Scot run briefly pulled the teams closer. Piccolino aced Bella Burrelli to win the race to 15 points but Edinboro was undeterred, pulling to within 22-21. The Golden Eagles rattled off three straight points to win the set, with Snider terminating the set with kills on consecutive points. The Golden Eagles rebounded from a 3-0 deficit to start the third set with seven straight points, and eventually stretched their lead to 17-12 after another seven-point streak. Snider and Kearney forced match point with blocks on back-to-back points, and Snider added a kill three points later to seal the win.

Clarion will wrap this stretch of three straight matches on the road tomorrow morning when they face off against Mercyhurst.
