Tennis Wraps Homestand with Loss to California (PA)

CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle tennis team wrapped up a stretch of four home matches in six days on Thursday, falling by a 7-0 score to California (PA) at Campbell Courts.

The Vulcans opened the day by winning all three doubles matches in the opening session, giving themselves the extra point. Cal took all three matches by a 6-0 score, but they would find the path in the singles session was a touch more difficult. The most competitive match of the day came in the No. 6 singles match, where Taelyn Thomas pushed Carmen Duran in the first set. Thomas played Duran tight throughout the set but ultimately lost by a 7-5 score. Duran recovered for a win in the second set to close out the win.

Davan Lion and Stephanie Juarez Murguia also played competitive matches on Thursday. Lion took Diletta Maria Mungo in the No. 1 singles match, taking a couple games in the first set but falling 6-2, 6-0. Juarez lost by an identical score in the No. 5 singles match, dropping a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Bega Gotor. Charlie Allison took a game off Lilli Schreiber at No. 3 singles, falling 6-0, 6-1.
