ERIE, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle tennis team kicked off the final week of the season on Tuesday, falling by a 7-0 score to Mercyhurst in their penultimate competition of the year.
 
The most competitive match of the doubles session was the No. 1 bout, with the pairing of Davan Lion and Josie Beckerleg taking on Kayla Dean and Roisin Murphy. Lion and Beckerleg took a game from the Lakers' top pairing, but the Mercyhurst duo ultimately took the match by a 6-1 score. The Lakers took the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches by 6-0 scores, giving themselves a 1-0 lead in the team match.
 
Lion also played one of the more competitive matches in the singles session as well. Taking on Dean again, she took a game in the second set of the No. 1 singles match in falling 6-0, 6-1. Stephanie Juarez Murguia also took a game in her match, but fell to Kiersten Brown by a 6-0, 6-1 score in the No. 5 singles match.
 
The Lakers were able take the remaining four matches in straight sets, sweeping singles play and clinching the 7-0 match win.
 
Clarion will conclude their season this Saturday when they head to Edinboro on April 27.
