INDIANA, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles soccer team headed on the road for their first divisional road game of the season, falling to IUP by a score of 2-0 at South Campus Field.
In the first half, the Clarion defense withstood the Crimson Hawks' attack, blocking three of their first five shots. With 13 minutes left in the half, IUP's Kristen Finnerty capitalized on a Golden Eagle turnover off a free kick to score her first goal of the season.
The Golden Eagles' best chance to respond came early in the second half when
Marisa Colondrillo's shot was blocked by the IUP defense. She collected the rebound but missed the target, and another shot was blocked in the same sequence. This shot on goal was her fifth of the season, placing her tied for second in shots on goal in the PSAC.
The Crimson Hawks added another goal at the 22-minute mark to seal the victory. Sophomore Avery Clanton scored past
Sage Sherk, placing the ball toward the bottom left corner of the goal.
Clarion will return home to Memorial Stadium next Wednesday to host divisional foe Edinboro for their first home conference game of the season at 7 p.m.
