INDIANA, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles baseball team kicked off a four-game set against IUP on the road on Saturday afternoon, dropping both halves of a doubleheader with the Crimson Hawks. IUP won the first game by a 12-1 score and pulled away for a 7-2 win in the nightcap.

Game 1: IUP 12, Clarion 1
RECAP: The Crimson Hawks blew up for six runs in the bottom of the second inning, giving them an early lead they were able to maintain for the duration of the game. Mitchell Grosch tacked on a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to up the lead to 9-0, and an infield single scored Elijah Dunn in the fourth.

Clarion broke through for a run in the top of the fifth inning, manufacturing a run with two outs to get on the scoreboard.
Sam Felner hit a two-out pinch hit double to the gap in left center field and then advanced to third on a balk. He came around to score on
Caden Contant's infield single to second base.

Ethan Giangiulio contributed a double to the gap in the top of the seventh inning, hitting his with one out, but the Golden Eagles were unable to bring him home.

Game 2: IUP 7, Clarion 2
RECAP: In the second game the Golden Eagles held close with the Crimson Hawks in the early innings before IUP started to pull away. Clarion bounced back from a 3-0 hole in the top of the third inning, after Davin Landers struck a two-run double and Au'Sean Owens tacked on a sacrifice fly.

In the Golden Eagles' half of the third inning,
Randy Carlo added to his team-leading RBI total with a two-out double to deep right field, scoring
Griffin Snyder from first base to cut the Crimson Hawks' lead to 3-1.

Clarion got another run back in the top of the fourth inning, after
Brody Hinkle reached on a leadoff walk. He moved to second on a passed ball and eventually scored when
Jack Hurda pushed a ball down the left field line for an RBI double.

IUP gave themselves some breathing room in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring on Ricardo Aponte's two-out RBI single to make it 4-2. The Crimson Hawks scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 7-2, taking the win.
