CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles tennis team broke through for a resounding conference win on Wednesday afternoon, beating Lock Haven 6-1 at Campbell Courts in the penultimate match of the year.

The match started with an exciting doubles session, with the Golden Eagles breaking a 1-1 tie to clinch the extra point. The No. 1 doubles team of
Davan Lion and Stephanie Juarez earned a convincing 6-1 win over Megan Ferris and Maci Rohrbach, but the Bald Eagles took the No. 2 doubles match by an identical score.

That left things to the No. 3 doubles match, where
Emily McMahan and
Taelyn Thomas outlasted Maggie Blasetti and Christy McLean. They held off their foes from Lock Haven for a 7-5 match win, clinching the doubles point for Clarion.

Thomas and McMahan went on to win their singles matches as well, with the former opening up the session with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hope Lapinski at No. 6 singles. McMahan, meanwhile, clinched the team result with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Alaina Marchioni at No. 5 singles, locking in the fourth point of the match for Clarion. In between,
Polia Vladeva earned a win at No. 4 singles over McLean, beating her 6-4, 6-1.

With the match already clinched, the Golden Eagles won two of the three remaining matches on the courts.
Josie Beckerleg topped Rohrbach in a tiebreaker in the second set, winning their match 6-1,7-6, while Lion came back from a one-set deficit to beat Ferris 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7) in the No. 1 singles match.
