Tennis Takes on Shippensburg in Crossover Match

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles tennis team went on the road for a PSAC crossover match on Saturday afternoon, playing close to Shippensburg in a handful of matches but ultimately falling to the Raiders by a 7-0 score.

In the doubles session, the pairing of Taelyn Thomas and Emily McMahan very nearly added another win to their ledger, playing the duo of Sarah Vessah and Ava Kalist to a tiebreaker in the No. 2 doubles match. The two teams were knotted up at 6-6 after 12 games, but Vessah and Kalist outlasted the Golden Eagles with a 7-2 score in the breaker. Shippensburg also won the No. 1 doubles match, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

Davan Lion played the most competitive match of the singles session, taking the first set from Corinne Markovich in the No. 1 singles match. Lion won the first set by a 6-2 score but Markovich countered with a 6-4 win in the second set, and later won the third set breaker by a 10-3 score. Polia Vladeva played a tight match at No. 2 singles, but could not overcome Yasmin De Meyer in falling 6-3, 6-4.

The Raiders won all five singles matches contested on Saturday en route to the 7-0 win.
