DUBOIS, Pa. — The Golden Eagles baseball finished off a decisive 9–2 victory over Lock Haven at Stern Family Field on Tuesday, picking up the action from a game that was previously started on March 22. The game resumed at the spot it had been suspended, at the start of the bottom of the third inning with Clarion holding a 5-0 lead.
Lock Haven's attempts to mount a comeback were halted by the Golden Eagles' explosive sixth inning, which solidified the home team's control. Clarion capitalized on a series of miscues by the Bald Eagles, beginning with
Ethan McNally reaching on an error at shortstop to put runners on first and second with no outs.
Jon Fijalkowski followed with a walk, setting the table for
Tyson Gill's single to load the bases. Zach Colangelo was hit by a pitch, driving in an unearned run.
Randy Carlo then delivered a sacrifice fly, adding another run.
The inning's momentum continued with
Wyatt Fether's RBI single and
Jacob Patterson's bases-loaded walk, culminating in four runs, three of which were unearned.
That moment came after the Golden Eagles escaped a dangerous opportunity for Lock Haven in the top of the sixth inning. After
Joseph Campoli allowed the first two runners to reach,
Zach Kelly entered in relief but walked the first two batters, with the second free pass allowing the Bald Eagles to score to cut the lead to 5-2. Kelly locked in and prevented any further damage, retiring three straight Lock Haven batters via strikeout to strand the bases loaded and maintain the lead.
In the game action that began on March 22, the Golden Eagles set the tone with a strong start in the first two innings. Gill's speed on the base paths put pressure on LHU's defense, advancing on consecutive wild pitches. This set up Carlo's RBI single. An effective second inning saw Colangelo's two-RBI single, followed by a run-scoring groundout by Carlo.
Tyson Gill scored three runs and collected two hits, while Zach Colangelo added three RBIs and two hits.
Randy Carlo also recorded three RBIs and two hits, including a double, bolstering the lineup's production.
Jacob Patterson drove in two runs, complementing the team's scoring depth with a hit and a walk.
Colin Miller earned the pitching win, allowing one earned run on two hits in the fourth inning.
Tyler Boraski closed out with a clean inning on just 9 pitches.
