KUTZTOWN – Clarion's
Amanda Lewis' shot in the final five minutes bounced harmlessly off the post, and the Kutztown women's soccer team held on to beat Clarion 1-0 in PSAC women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Kutztown.
“It was an even game,” Clarion head coach Rob Eaton said. “We were stronger in the second half.”
Clarion (4-5-3 overall, 4-3-2 PSAC) had four of its seven shots in the second half but couldn't overcome a goal at the 37th minute from Kutztown's Julia DiFerdinando who scored on a pass across the box from Lauren Heisse.
The Golden Eagles return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they host Mansfield. It is Student Appreciation Day at Memorial Stadium with three $150 Clarion Student Book Center gift cards being given out to three Clarion University students (one in a drawing near the end of the game and two – one male and one female winner – being given out during a halftime shootout). Also at halftime there will be a shootout for non-Clarion students 18 and under with the winner getting a Pepsi prize pack.
