LATE SHOT HITS POST AS GOLDEN EAGLES FALL 1-0 AT KUTZTOWN

Amanda Lewis came oh so close to tying the game in the final 5 minutes

Box Score

KUTZTOWN – Clarion's Amanda Lewis' shot in the final five minutes bounced harmlessly off the post, and the Kutztown women's soccer team held on to beat Clarion 1-0 in PSAC women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Kutztown.

“It was an even game,” Clarion head coach Rob Eaton said. “We were stronger in the second half.”
Clarion (4-5-3 overall, 4-3-2 PSAC) had four of its seven shots in the second half but couldn't overcome a goal at the 37th minute from Kutztown's Julia DiFerdinando who scored on a pass across the box from Lauren Heisse.

That was the only shot that beat Clarion keeper Jenna Kulik, who made six saves. Jordan Daloisio led the offense with three shots, while Jill Miller had two including one on goal.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they host Mansfield. It is Student Appreciation Day at Memorial Stadium with three $150 Clarion Student Book Center gift cards being given out to three Clarion University students (one in a drawing near the end of the game and two – one male and one female winner – being given out during a halftime shootout). Also at halftime there will be a shootout for non-Clarion students 18 and under with the winner getting a Pepsi prize pack.
