GREENSBURG - Seton Hill used a pair of late-game rallies to sweep a doubleheader from the Clarion University baseball team Wednesday afternoon at Seton Hill.
Clarion lost Game One 6-2 before falling in Game Two 4-3. The losses drop the Golden Eagles to 6-30 on the year. Clarion returns to action Friday at Mercyhurst in the final road PSAC-West doubleheader of the year.
In Game One, Seton Hill took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth before Clarion cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs. The Griffins, though, answered with three more in the bottom of the sixth to pull away.
Jason Krimsky led the offense going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Tom Briley was 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Erik Kempton was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk.
Kevin Gnacinski took the loss going 5 1/3 innings and allowing five runs, two earned, on nine hits and two walks while striking out two. Kempton faced four batters allowing one hit and one walk while also allowing a run. Jeremy Smith finished off the final 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs on no hits. He didn't walk a batter or strike one out.
In Game Two, Clarion scored twice in the second and once in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. That lead held up until the sixth when Seton Hill scored four runs off Scott Berkes to pull out the 4-3 win.
Spencer White hit a home run for the Golden Eagles and was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Krimsky added a triple and was 1-for-2 with a walk. Ken Morgan also scored a run.
Berkes took the loss going six innings and allowing four runs, all earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out nine.
