EAGLES DROP PAIR TO MERCYHURST

CLARION--Clarion University's baseball team dropped a pair of games to visiting Mercyhurst in PSAC-West action 11-2 and 12-7.

In Game Two the Golden Eagles (6-32, 1-23 PSAC-West) scored three runs in the sixth inning to bring the game close but the comeback bid fell short 12-7. . Sean Zimmerman's two out double drove in two runs. Jason Krimsky followed with a single that plated the third Clarion run making the score 12-6.

Zach Motyl led off the seventh for the Golden Eagles with a walk and later scored on a Tom Briley single setting the final at 12-7.

Briley based the Clarion offense in Game Two going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Ken Morgan chipped in three RBI's on a homerun in the third inning.

Eric Panko took the loss for Clarion pitching five innings giving up eight runs, five earned, on 11 hits, two walks and striking out four.

Mercyhurst grabbed an early lead in Game One and never looked back, scoring three times in the top of the first inning.

Clarion got on the board in the fourth when Erik Kempton led off with a single and was plated on a Morgan single.

The Golden Eagles picked up their second run in the seventh when Briely stole third and was able to score on the arrant throw by the catcher.

Briley set the tone for the offense going 3 for 4 with a run scored. Jason Krimsky was 2 for 2 for Clarion.

Gregg Bandzuh took the loss on the mound for Clarion pitching four innings giving up seven runs, four earned, on 11 hits and one walk.
