Jill Miller's school-record tying goal at the 20-minute mark of the first half gave Clarion a one-goal lead that they never relinquished in beating East Stroudsburg 4-1 in the PSAC opener Friday afternoon at memorial stadium
MIller tied Ashlie Regazzi's career mark with the tally, and it leaves her one point behind Regazzi's school record, which is 30.
The victory is the first for first-year coach Rob Eaton at Clarion, and marks the first time Clarion is 1-0 in conference play since 2007, when it started the year 2-0 in conference action.
Amanda Lewis put Clarion up early in the game scoring in the 13 minute mark. East Stroudburg's Lindsay Fader answered back not three minutes later to tie the game at one. However, Miller's goal, assisted by
Gina Shero, another three minutes after Fader's put Clarion back in the lead, leaving the score at halftime at 2-1 Clarion.
Naugle sealed the victory with a pair of goals in the second half. The first of which was assisted by
Lauren Barbour, and the second goal assisted by
Beth Ellen Dibeler.
Clarion's next contest will be Tuesday against Seton Hill at 7pm.
