Jaclyn Metzger won at #1 singles, but that was all the points the Golden Eagles could generate on Tuesday as Westminster defeated Clarion 8-1 in women's tennis action.
Clarion opened its women's tennis season and has a season record of 0-1, while Westminster raised its record to 5-0.
Metzger defeated Alex Bailey at #1 singles by a 6-1, 6-4 score. The Eagles
Michaela Hardy lost 6-2, 6-3 to Caitlin Hosler at #2;
Brittany Bucheit lost 6-2, 6-3 to Becky Tobias at #3;
Alysia Sturdivant lost 6-2, 6-2 to Jane Larsen at #4;
Lauren Eonta lost 7-5, 6-1 to Rachel Jack at #5 and
Claire Kerstetter lost 6-0, 6-2 to Dana Griesmer at #6.
Clarion's #1 doubles team of Metzger and Hardy lost to Bailey and Hosler 8-4; while Bucheit and Eonta lost 8-2 to Jack and Tobias at #2 and Sturdivant and
Andi Gibson lost 8-5 to Larson and Lauren Latinovich at #3.
Clarion will host East Stroudsburg on Friday at 11am at the Campbell Courts, then host Shippensburg at 3:30pm.
