LOCK HAVEN – In dramatic fashion, senior
Jill Miller set the Clarion school record for goals and points on the same play scoring in the 79
th minute to help the Golden Eagles forge a 2-2 double overtime tie at Lock Haven in PSAC women's soccer action Wednesday night.
Miller came into the game tied with Ashlie Regazzi with 14 career goals and was one point behind Regazzi's school-record 30 points. She now has 15 goals and 31 points.
That all changed with under 11 minutes to play when she collected a loose ball in the box and beat Lock Haven goalkeeper Hayley Zinn to tie the game at two.
Miller's goal capped a major comeback by the Golden Eagles (3-3-2 overall, 3-1-1 PSAC), who trailed 2-0 with just over 30 minutes to play
But
Amanda Lewis lifted Clarion back into the goal when she used a nice individual effort in the box before turning and beating Zinn at the 59
th minute unassisted.
Lock Haven got on the board very early scoring on an Arielle Gordon header off a corner kick at the first minute. Carly D'Orsaneo got the assist.
The Lady Eagles then took a 2-0 lead at the 49
th minute when
Amanda Lewis scored on a cross from Gordon.
Clarion goalkeeper
Jenna Kulik made eight saves in the tie, while Zinn had zero saves.
Lock Haven outshot Clarion 18-3 in the match including 5-0 in overtime.
The Golden Eagles return to action at 7 p.m. Saturday when they host Slippery Rock on Homecoming.
