CLARION- After 90 minutes and double overtime, the Clarion woman's soccer team finished Sunday's hard fought afternoon game against Alderson-Broaddus in a 2-2 tie.
The first half of the game was a possession battle until Alderson-Broaddus's Kasie Shoemaker scored the first goal in the 34th minute from a cornerkick. That was the only goal scored in the first half despite the five shots put on goal by Alderson-Broaddus, and six shots by Clarion.
The second half action picked up early when Clarion scored two straight goals.
Gina Shero scored the tying goal only two minutes into the half. Then, in the 58
th minute, Clarion took the lead on a goal by freshman
Jordan Bahr, assisted by an
Alaina Tintera shot that deflected back to the foot of Bahr.
In the 71st minute, Alderson-Broaddus's Gwen Brand scored the unassisted game tying goal.
Both Clarion and Alderson-Broaddus had only one shot in the extra time, both being in the first of the two overtimes.
Clarion's goal-keeper,
Jenna Kulik, made six saves in the game.
The Golden Eagles will be back on the field Wednesday at Wheeling Jesuit.
NOTES- The game was the first for Clarion Head Coach Rob Eaton…Clarion's next home game will be this Friday 2pm against East Stroudsburg.
