(Millersville, Pa.) Clarion's women's tennis team continued play action Friday against Millersville. The 6-3 results came down to freshman double teams
Lauren Rhine and
Megan Bettwy and
Madeline Robinson and
Drusilla Keeling-Woolbright.
Clarion is now 2-2 in the fall campaign.
Jaclyn Metzger defeated Melissa Plowman 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1;
Lauren Zezenski defeated Samantha Prager 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2;
Bettwy defeated Shauna Powers 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3;
Robinson lost to Kelsey Waite 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4;
Buchheit lost to Elizabeth Wagner 7-6, 6-3 at No. 5; and
Rhine defeated Alexandra Heller 6-0, 6-1.
The match winner was determined by the doubles competitions. Head Coach Lori Sabatose said, “This was the best doubles I have seen this year.”
Metzger and
Zezenski lost to Plowman and Prager in the first double match 8-3. This left the match results up to all freshmen and a first time match up of
Robinson and
Keeling-Woolbright. They defeated Shauna Powers and Alexandra Heller 9-7; and
Rhine and
Bettwy defeated Kelsey Waite and Elizabeth Wagner 8-6 leaving the Golden Eagles taking the match 6-3.
