(Hartsville, S.C.): Clarion was limited to four hits and one run as Coker College defeated the Golden Eagles 11-1 in NCAA Division II baseball on Friday.
Held at Tom J. New Field, Clarion dropped to 2-8 on its Spring Trip while Coker raised its record to 9-13.
Scott Berkes was the starting and losing pitcher for the Golden Eagles. He pitched 3.1 innings and yielded 7 runs on 10 hits while striking out 2 and walking none. He received relief help from
Pat Golden who went 3.2 innings and gave up only 1 hit and no runs, while
T.J. Anderson pitched the final inning and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits.
Coker posted two runs in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead. Clarion scored its only run in the fourth when
Dane Dobson walked,
Seth Peterson singled Dobson to third and Dobson came home to score on a fielder's choice.
Clarion continues its Spring Trip on Saturday with a doubleheader at Shippensburg starting at 1 pm.
