Jaclyn Metzger was a double winner, including a big three-set win at #1 singles, but it wasn't enough as Penn State Behrend defeated the Golden Eagles 6-3 in women's tennis action on Thursday at the Campbell Courts.
Clarion dropped to 3-13 overall while Behrend raised its season mark to 15-8-1.
In singles play
Jaclyn Metzger rallied for an impressive 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 10-1 win over Arica Christman at #1 singles. “She played great,” said coach Lori Sabatose. “She played like a champion.”
The Golden Eagles lost the other five singles matches however to lose the match 6-3.
Hardy lost 6-3, 6-3 to Cattron at #2 singles, Buchheit lost 6-2, 6-3 to Lasher at #3, Eonta was defeated 6-3, 6-0 by Durante at #4, Kerstetter lost 6-1, 6-0 to Quigley at #5 and
Tawnya Waggle lost 6-2, 6-0 to Buhite at #6.
Clarion will host IUP on Friday in a PSAC-West matchup.
