ERIE –
Eric Panko helped Clarion keep its playoff hopes alive throwing a six-hit complete game in Game Two of a PSAC West baseball doubleheader Friday at Gannon leading the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 win and a split in the twinbill.
After dropping Game One 6-3 at Erie's Jerry Uht Park, Clarion needed a win in Game Two. And Panko delivered allowing a run in the first inning and nothing else the rest of the way. He walked one and struck out seven.
Clarion (7-20 overall, 5-7 PSAC West) answered Gannon's run with a run of its own in the second when
Scott Berkes led off with a walk was sacrificed to second by
Bill Hasson and scored on an RBI single to center by
Eric Grejda.
Weitzel was 1-for-2 with the run scored, and Rossi and Grejda were each 1-for-3 with the RBIs accounting for all of Clarion's hits.
Gannon (14-20, 9-11) took Game One 6-3 scoring two runs in each of the second, third and fifth innings. All three Clarion runs came in the sixth.
Grejda had a hit, a run scored and an RBI in three at bats with Berkes and Morgan each going 1-for-4 with a run scored.
