PITCHERS DOMINATE AS CLARION SPLITS WITH SLIPPERY ROCK

Game One Box Score / Game Two Box Score


Thanks to a strong outing from Brandon Slater Clarion was able to split a PSAC West doubleheader at home Sunday beating Slippery Rock 4-2 in Game One. In Game Two the Golden Eagles were no hit by Joby Lapkowicz and fell 7-0.
 
Clarion (5-16, 3-3 PSAC West) was led by Slater in Game One who pitched 6.1 strong innings, allowing seven hits, two runs, one earned, striking out four. Eric Panko was awarded the save striking out the final two batters.
 
First baseman Matt Rossi and shortstop Jerico Weitzel came up with the big hits for the Golden Eagles in Game One. Rossi drove in Josh Beimel in the first inning with a single to right field putting them up 1-0 early. Weitzel had an RBI single in the fifth inning and eventually came around to score putting Clarion up 3-0. 
 
Game Two was dominated my Slippery Rock's Lapkowicz who threw a complete-game no hitter and struck out nine. Slippery Rock took a 3-0 lead in the third and that was all it needed to grab Game Two and get the split.
 
The Golden Eagle's Seth Peterson was the losing pitcher in Game Two giving up three runs on four hits in three innings pitched. 
 
Clarion returns to action at 1p.m. Friday when it hosts California in a doubleheader.
