Game One Box Score /
Game Two Box Score
LOCK HAVEN – Clarion pitchers allowed just five runs over two games Saturday but it wasn't enough to keep the Golden Eagles from being swept in a doubleheader at Lock Haven.
Clarion dropped Game One 2-0 and then fell 3-2 in Game Two.
In the first game,
Brandon Slater was the hard-luck loser tossing a six-inning four-hitter allowing two earned runs in the fourth innings. He walked one, hit one and struck out two.
In Game Two, Lock Haven scored once in the first and twice in the second off starter and loser
Mike Dunn before he and
Pat Golden shutdown the Bald Eagles the rest of the way.
Clarion (9-28 overall, 7-15 PSAC West) made a game out of it when
Ken Morgan hit his second home run of the season with
Matt Rossi on first and no outs in the sixth to cut the Lock Haven lead to 3-2. Morgan is tied for the team lead in homers with Rossi.
Then with two outs in the seventh, Roncolato singled but Weitzel, needing a hit to extend his hit streak, grounded out to second base to end the game.
Dunn threw 2 2/3 innings allowing the three runs, all earned, on four hits and four walks while striking out one. Golden allowed two hits in 3 1/3 innings of work.
Berkes led the offense going 2-for-3 while Roncolato, Morgan and
Chad White all had hits.
Clarion is slated to conclude its season with a 1 p.m. doubleheader vs. Lock Haven Sunday at Butler's Pullman Park.
