ERIE – Aina Torres scored a pair of first-half goals, as the Mercyhurst women's soccer team topped Clarion 3-0 Wednesday afternoon at Mercyhurst.
 
Clarion (2-3 overall, 0-3 PSAC) recorded two shots with freshmen Alyssa Liebdzinski and Autumn Rosenberg recording one apiece. Fellow freshman keeper Laura Saussol made eight saves.
 
“Despite the final score, Laura played a very, very well in goal,” Clarion's second-year head coach Rob Eaton said. “If it wasn't for her, the score would have been much worse. We didn't play well in front of her, and we need to get better.”  
 
Torres put Mercyhurst (4-1) up 1-0 with a goal late in the ninth minute with the assist going to Janine Wong. Torres then made it 2-0 in the 31^st minute on an unassisted goal before she fed Gabrielle Catrabone in the 47^th minute to make it 3-0.  
 
Clarion returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Gannon.
