CLARION-The Clarion University woman's soccer team ended in a tie with Gannon 1-1 after a hard fought game Saturday afternoon at Clarion's Memorial Stadium.
Gannon got on the board first only twenty minutes into the game. However, Clarion came storming back with a goal of their own in the last minute of the first half by freshman
Alyssa Liebdzinski, and assisted by freshman
Kathleen Warner.
Sophomore
Jordan Bahr placed two shots on net for Clarion, while
Casey Harsch,
Lauren Barbour and
Autumn Rosenberg each added one of their own.
Clarion's freshman goal keeper, Lauren Saussol made 14 saves on the day with two coming in key moments for the Golden Eagles. The first of which was in the 66th minute of play when Saussol stopped a brilliant advance from a Gannon player with a diving save from a shot not ten yards from the net. The second was with only three minutes left in the first overtime, when again Saussol made a fingertip deflection to knock the ball away from the goal.
"It was a hard fought game, very physical," said Head Coach Rob Eaton. "I was proud of them. They all worked hard."
Clarion will be back in action on the road at Mansfield on Tuesday. Their next home game will be Friday, September 23, when they battle Millersville at Memorial Stadium at 3p.m.
