PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Freshman
Laura Domena scored off a corner kick from the 6-yard line in the 22
nd minute to give the Clarion University women's soccer team a 1-0 win at Alderson-Broaddus in its season opener Sunday afternoon.
“It's nice to turn a tie from last season into a win,” Clarion's second-year head coach Rob Eaton said. “We played very well for the first 20 minutes and then hung on with some good possession to seal the victory in a sloppy second half.”
Domena's goal came when fellow freshman
Autumn Rosenberg's corner kick was flicked on by
Erin White.
Freshman keeper
Laura Saussol made the goal stand up recording her first career shutout in her first career start.
Clarion returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Wheeling Jesuit in the home opener.
