CLARION FALLS TO ERSKINE

DUE WEST, S.C. – Erskine rallied past visiting Clarion to get a 6-5 win in collegiate baseball action Wednesday afternoon in South Carolina.
 
Clarion (1-6) led 4-1 after 4 ½ innings before the home team scored twice in the fifth and twice in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead.
 
The Golden Eagles fought back tying the game in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by Cole Heffner that scored Mark White, but Erskine responded with a run of its own in the bottom of the inning.
 
Clarion tried to rally in the ninth and got two men on base but couldn't squeeze across the tying run.
 
Jerico Weitzel led Clarion going 2-for-4 with an RBI while Matt Rossi was 1-for-5 with an RBI.
 
Seth Peterson took the loss for the Golden Eagles throwing one inning of relief and allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out one.
 
Brett Whitman started the game and went five innings allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three. T.J. Anderson pitched two innings allowing two runs on three hits and two walks.
 
Clarion and Erskine finish a three-game series at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
