CLINTON DRIVES IN FIVE BUT CLARION FALLS AT ERSKINE

Kasey Clinton's 5 RBIs were the most by a Clarion player since 2005

Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. – Clarion's Kasey Clinton, Jerico Weitzel and Jon Kemmer combined for seven hits, eight RBIs and four runs scored, but Erskine won an old-fashion shootout 17-12 in the third game of a three-game series in Due West, S.C., Thursday afternoon.
 
Clinton was 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, a run scored and five RBIs, the most RBIs by a Golden Eagle since the 2006 season, while Weitzel was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Kemmer went 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs.
 
But Erskine broke open a close game with 13 combined runs in the seventh and eighth innings and then held off a Clarion ninth-inning rally that saw the Golden Eagles plate five runs.
 
Kyle Beck took the loss for Clarion (1-7) in relief facing five batters and not recording an out. He allowed four runs, all earned, on three hits and two walks.
 
Eric Hesdon started for Clarion and went 3 innings allowing four runs, all earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out one. Cameron Damski pitched two innings of scoreless relief before Chris Kumar gave up two runs, one earned, on one hit and three walks in an inning of work. He struck out one. Also pitching for the Golden Eagles were Ken DiBucci (1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER) and Kemmer (1 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 Ks).
 
Clarion returns to action Friday in Due West, S.C., went it starts PSAC West play against Lock Haven.
