ROSSI TIES GLEDHILL WITH 17TH CAREER HR; KEMMER HITS 2 HRS IN DH LOSS TO BLOOM

Matt Rossi has 17 career home runs tying him with Kevin Gledhill for the most by a Golden Eagle since 1979

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2  BLOOMSBURG – Clarion's Matt Rossi hit his 17th career home run tying him for the most by a Golden Eagle since 1979, and Jon Kemmer hit two home runs on the day, but homestanding Bloomsburg swept a doubleheader from Clarion Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Huskies (13-11) took Game One 16-8 then held off a Clarion rally in Game Two to beat the Golden Eagles (5-13) 6-5.
 
Rossi, who was 1-for-3 in Game Two with a three-run home run in the sixth that got Clarion within one, tied Kevin Gledhill for the most career home runs since 1979 (records prior to 1979 aren't available). Rossi also has the third-most career RBIs in that span with 94 behind Gledhill (115) and Jason Warner (109). It was his team-leading fourth homer of the season, and he now has a team-best 21 RBIs on the season.
 
Kemmer, a junior from nearby Clarion High School in his first season with the Golden Eagles, hit his first two Clarion home runs going deep in each game while also adding a Game One double. He was 5-for-6 on the day with the two homers, a double, five runs scored and four RBIs. He was 2-for-3 in Game One and 3-for-3 in Game Two. He scored three runs in the first game and two in the second and had a pair of RBIs in each game.
 
Also in Game One, Kasey Clinton was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
In the first game, the teams were tied at two after 3 ½ innings before Bloomsburg used a pair of six-run innings in the fourth and the fifth to break the game open.    
 
T.J. Anderson took the loss going 3 2/3 innings and allowing eight runs, seven earned, on six hits and six walks. Kyle Beck threw 2/3 of an inning allowing three runs, all earned, despite not allowing a hit. He walked two and hit a batter. He struck out one. Ken DiBucci threw 1/3 of an inning allowing three runs, all earned, on two hits and two walks. Chris Kumar finished off the game throwing 1 1/3 innings and allowing two runs, both earned, on two hits while striking out one.
 
In Game Two, Bloomsburg raced out to a 4-0 lead after two innings of play before Kemmer's two-run home run in the fourth got the Golden Eagles back within two at 4-2. But the Huskies answered with a two-run fourth of its own to go ahead 6-2.
 
Clarion looked poised to get one of the runs back when Nick Maskrey led off the fifth with a double. But he was stranded at second. The Golden Eagles, though, did get back into the game in the sixth inning when Rossi hit his three-run home run making it a one-run game.  
 
Eric Hesdon took the loss going 3 1/3 innings allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out one. Bill Hasson and Jon Kemmer combined to throw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Hasson allowed one hit, while Kemmer struck out one.  
 
Clarion returns to action with a 1 p.m. PSAC West doubleheader Friday at Slippery Rock.
