MORGAN, DUNN HELP CLARION SPLIT ROAD DH WITH SLIPPERY ROCK

Ken Morgan had two hits, including a HR, and drove home three runs in Game One

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Ken Morgan and Mike Dunn helped the Clarion University baseball team to a doubleheader split at Slippery Rock Friday afternoon.
 
Morgan went 2-for-3 with a home run, a run scored and three RBIs, and Dunn threw a seven-hitter in Game One to lead Clarion to a 4-3 Game One win.
 
Slippery Rock came back and won Game Two 10-1. The two teams continue their four-game series with a doubleheader at Clarion starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.
 
In the first game, Morgan smacked his second home run of the season with a two-run shot in the second inning that gave Clarion a 2-0 lead. It scored Josh Beimel who walked with one out.
 
The Golden Eagles (6-14 overall, 5-5 PSAC West) then took a 4-0 lead with two unearned runs in the third.
 
Josh Beimel drove in the first run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to center that scored Jon Roncolato, and then Morgan brought home Jon Kemmer with an RBI single.
 
Slippery Rock tried to rally scoring once in the third and twice in the fifth, but Dunn shut The Rock down the rest of the game and got the win allowing three runs, two earned, on the seven hits and four walks while striking out two.
 
In Game Two, Slippery Rock (11-17, 4-6) scored seven in the first and added a run in the second and cruised from there.
 
Clarion's lone run came in the fifth when Beimel walked with one out and came home on a two-out single to left by Kasey Clinton, who was thrown out at second trying to stretch the hit into a double.
 
Roncolato added a hit in the contest for Clarion.
 
Kemmer took the loss going 2/3 of an inning and allowing seven runs, all earned, on six hits and a walk. Seth Peterson relieved and pitched well in relief giving up three earned runs in 5 1/3 innings on seven hits while striking out three.
