HASSON HOMER LIFTS CLARION TO SPLIT AT 'VILLE

                (Millersville, Pa.): Clarion junior outfielder Bill Hasson's (Franklin) solo home run in the top of the third was the only run the Golden Eagles needed in game 2, as sophomore pitcher Mike Dunn (West Springfield) scattered four hits and the Golden Eagles defeated Millersville 1-0 in a baseball doubleheader on Friday. The Marauders won game one 3-2.

                Held at Marauder Park, Clarion raised its season record to 1-3, while Millersville went to 7-5 overall.

                Hasson led off the third inning of game 2 with a home run to left field for the only run of game 2. Ken Morgan was 2 for 3 and Scott Berkes 1 for 3 as Clarion only managed four hits.

                Dunn, a right-handed pitcher, scattered four hits in pitching the Golden Eagles to a shutout win. Dunn struck out five and walked one in seven innings of work.

                In game one Clarion jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Jerico Weitzel (Sr. Ridgway) walked, stole second, advanced to third and scored on a ground out by Matt Rossi (Sr. Monroeville) for a 1-0 lead.

                The Marauder s tied the game in the bottom of the first, then took a 2-1 lead in the third when Medina singled home Dan Johnson. Millersville went ahead 3-1 in the 5th Zach Stone doubled home Mike August.

                Clarion rallied in the top of the seventh when Weitzel walked, Jon Kemmer (Jr. Clarion) doubled to right field to put runners at second and third. Matt Rossi grounded out to score a run to make it 3-2, but Joe Chittester (So. Ridgway) struck out to end the game.

                Brandon Slater (Sr. Shinglehouse) pitched a complete game and took the loss. He gave up 6 hits, struck out 7 and walked 2.

                Clarion will play a single game on Saturday at Millersville.
