PLAY SUSPENDED IN DAY 2 OF THE 2012 NCAA D-II SUPER REGIONAL
(Hershey, Pa.): Twelve teams still had players on the course as play was suspended at 6:56 p.m. on Tuesday evening during the second round of the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Super Regional at the East Course at Hershey Country Club.
Clarion has all five of its players on the course including
Ross Pringle (Sr. Titusville), Chase Zamperini (So. New Bethlehem/Redbank Valley, Bill Stover (Jr. Apollo), Zach Schloemer (Sr. Waynesburg/Waynesburg Central) and Alex Angelone ( So. Irwin/Penn Trafford).
The Golden Eagles started at #10 on Tuesday and all finished at least nine holes. Pringle was four over, Angelone and Stover five over and Schloemer six over. Zamperini actually has 12 holes completed and is five over.
On Monday Pringle shot a 79 and was in 29
th place, Zamperini shot a nine-over par 80 and was in 38
th place, while Stover checked in with an 82 and was 58
th, while Schloemer was 83
rd after posting an 86. Angelone posted a disqualification, but played on Tuesday.
Playing to a par 71, Wilmington (+36) and IUP (+40) are still in first and second place respectively, while Mass-Lowell (+42), Bluefield (+47) and St. Thomas Aquinas (+50) are third through fifth. Clarion is currently in 12
th place with a score of 62-over par. Twenty teams are participating.
Paul Tighe of Wilmington lead the race for medalist with a score of two over after 30 holes.
The 2012 Super Region I Tournament will continue at 7:30am on Wednesday morning until its conclusion, then the third round will begin at 11am with a shotgun start, The top 5 teams and the next two best individual scores not part of the top five teams will qualify for the NCAA D-II National Tournament May 15-19 at the Cardinal Club Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky.
