Box Score SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Despite sophomore
Casey Harsch's first career goal, the Clarion University soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Shippensburg Saturday afternoon.
“It was a tough loss,” Clarion head coach Rob Eaton said. “We are playing well. I am please with the way we are playing.”
Shippensburg (3-2-2 overall, 1-2-1 PSAC) led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a Rhonda Runion goal in the 19
th minute. The Raiders then made it 2-0 on an Ashley Vellucci goal late in the 58
th minute.
Harsch, though, made things interesting when she scored late in the 86
th minute on a bending shot that found its way though traffic and off a Shippensburg players leg before ending up in the back of the net.
Clarion (1-2-2, 1-2-0) outshot Shippensburg 17-11, but the Raiders had seven shots on goal to Clarion's six.
Laura Saussol made five saves for the Golden Eagles.
Clarion returns to action Wednesday at Lock Haven.
