(Clarion, Pa.):  The Clarion Women's Tennis team opened the 2012-13 dual meet season with a 9-0 win over Daemen on Tuesday at the Campbell Courts.
 
                Clarion is 1-0, while Daemen drops to 0-4.
 
                The Golden Eagles  swept the singles matches with Lauren Zezenski (So. Bernville) defeating Shaylah Iverson 6-4, 6-4 at #1; Megan Bettwy (So. Hollidaysburg) defeated Aman Shamaa 6-0, 6-1 at #2; Madeline Robinson (So. Amherst, N.Y.) defeated Sarah Hai 6-0; 6-2 at #3; Jessica Kennelly (Fr. Aliquippa) defeated Sassy Fernandez 6-0, 6-2 at #4; Michaela Hardy (Sr. Greenland, N.H.) defeated Katey Portner 6-0, 6-0 at #5 and Claire Kerstetter (Jr. Renovo) defeated Holly Turano 6-0, 6-2 at #6.
 
                In doubles action the Clarion team of Betwy and Robinson defeated Iverson and Shamaa 8-2 at #1; Zezenski and Kennelly defeated Hai and Sheriff 8-0 at #2; and Hardy and Kerstetter defeated Turano and Fernandez 8-1 at #3.
 
                The Golden Eagles return to action on October 5 when Clarion plays West Chester at IUP at 3:30pm.
