Box Score CLARION, Pa. – Clarion goalkeeper
Laura Saussol finished with 11 saves, but the Clarion University women's soccer team fell to West Chester 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
"That was the most abysmal game I have ever seen," said Clarion Head Coach Rob Eaton. "It was atrocious. I was shocked at how bad we came out and played today."
In the first half, Clarion's lone shot came on a free kick by
Casey Harsch from 20 yards out. The Golden Rams had multiple chances to score, but Saussol came up big with six saves in the half.
But in the second half, West Chester (7-3, 6-3 PSAC) was able to get on the board in the 57
th minute when Lexi Brown was able to score off of a Lexi Lentz corner to give the Golden Rams the lead.
"We didn't have any scoring chances today," said Eaton. "West Chester was able to get their goal off of a nice header which turned about to be the difference in the game."
The Golden Eagles (3-4-3, 3-4-3 PSAC) were unable record a shot in the second half. West Chester went on to outshoot Clarion 24-1 in the match.
Clarion returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday where it will travel to Edinboro to take on the Fighting Scots.
