CLARION DROPS TWIN BILL AT MILLERSVILLE

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Millersville's Chris Murphy threw the first perfect game in the PSAC since 1999 and just the 19th in NCAA Division II since 1957 in a 2-0 Game Two victory over Clarion that helped the Marauders sweep the visiting Golden Eagles in a non-conference doubleheader Friday.
 
Murphy retired all 21 batters he faced striking out six and outdueled Clarion's Caleb McGary, who threw a gem of his own allowing just two runs, one earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out three.
 
In Game One, Millersville scored six runs in its final three at bats to knock off Clarion 7-0. The Golden Eagles had two hits in the game with Drew Pirritano and Derek Danver each getting knocks with Pirritano's being a double.
 
Brett Whitman took the loss going four innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out three. Sam Skraba relieved and went 1 1/3 innings allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits and a walk before Shane Sullivan got the final two outs for Clarion.
 
The Golden Eagles (0-10) return to action with their home opener, a doubleheader with Notre Dame College of Ohio, at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
 
NOTES – Murphy's perfect game is the first in Division II since 2009 and it marks the first time Clarion has been no hit since Slippery Rock no hit the Golden Eagles April 3, 2011, at Clarion.
