CLARION NETTERS LOSE  8-1 DECISION AT MERCYHURST
 
                (Erie, Pa.):  Clarion's doubles tandem of Michaela Hardy (Sr. Greenland, N.H.) and Jessica Kennelly (Fr. Aliquippa) won their match at #3 doubles,  but it wasn't enough as the Golden Eagles lost their PSAC-West opener at Mercyhurst on Friday afternoon by an 8-1 margin.
 
                Held at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, the Golden Eagles dropped to 3-3 overall in 2012-13 and 0-1 in the PSAC-West, while Mercyhurst is 11-2 overall and 1-1 in the West.
 
                In doubles action Megan Bettwy and Caitlin Clemons lost 8-2 to Carolina Bristol and Sarah Baich at #1, Madeline Robinson  and Lauren Zezenski lost 82 to Courtney Thompson and Rebecca Haener at #2, while Michaela Hardy and Jessica Kennelly won 9-8 (7-5) over Taylor Wedlake and Katelyn Caniford at #3 doubles.
 
                In singles action Zezenski lost 6-0, 6-1 to Bristol at #1,  Robinson lost 6-0, 6-3 to Thompson at #2, and Bettwy lost 6-4, 6-2 to Haener at #3. Clemons losyt 6-2, 6-0 to Baich at #4 singles, Hardy ost 6-1, 6-2 at #5 and Kennelly lost 6-0, 6-0 to Caniford at #3.
 
                Clarion returns to action on Saturday morning when the Golden Eagles host California at the Campbell Courts at 10 am.
