Box Score 2 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Clarion University baseball team was swept in a PSAC West doubleheader at Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon dropping Game One 5-1 and Game Two 5-0.
In the first game, Slippery Rock did most of its damage early grabbing a 4-0 lead after three innings after scoring twice in the first and once in the second and third.
The Golden Eagles got a run back in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by
Joey Lopez that scored
Bill Hasson who walked, moved to second on a groundout and to third when
Jordan Mesoraco reached on an error.
Slippery Rock got that run back in the bottom of the fifth, and Clarion didn't really threaten after that.
Mesoraco and Lopez had Clarion's hits in the game.
Tyler Delval took the loss going six innings and allowing five runs, four earned, on 12 hits and four walks while striking out three.
In the nightcap, Slippery Rock broke a scoreless tie with two in the third and then added two more in the fourth before finishing off the scoring with a run in the fifth.
Clarion had three hits in the game with Mesoraco, Hasson and
Drew Pirritano collecting them.
Ryan Voisey took the loss going six innings and allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits and three walks while striking out one.
The Golden Eagles (1-17 overall, 1-7 PSAC West) return to action Tuesday at Point Park.
