CLARION NETTERS OPEN WITH 6-3 WIN AT UPG
                (Greensburg, Pa.): The Clarion University women's Tennis team opened the 2013-14 season with a 6-3 win over Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, August 31 at the Greensburg Racquet Club.

                Lauren Zezenski  (Jr. Bernville), Megan Bettwy (Jr. Hollidaysburg), Madeline Robinson (Jr. Amherst, N.Y.) and Caitlin Clemons (Jr. Williamsport) were single winners while Zezenski, Bettwy and Robinson were double winners.

                In single play Zezenski defeated Cayla Ray 6-1, 6-1 at #1; Bettwy defeated Ashley Uncapher 6-1, 6-1 at #2; Robinson won 6-2, 6-0 over Christina Vecchio 6-2, 6-0 at #3, Sydney Geary of UPG defeated Jessica Kennelly (So. Aliquippa, Central Valley) 6-1, 6-2 at #4; Clemons won 6-0, 6-1 over Alexis Schimansky at #5 and Nicole Bonacci won a hard fought 7-6 (10-8), 2-6, 10-4 decision over Clarion freshman Jazmin Harris (Fr. Monaca, Central Valley) at #6.

                In doubles action the Golden Eagle team of Zezenski and Bettwy defeated Ray and Uncapher 8-2 at #1; Robinson and Kennelly defeated Vecchio and Geary 8-0 at #2 and UPG's Schimansky and Bonacci defeated Clemons and Harris 8-4 at #3.

                Clarion will visit Allegheny on Saturday, September 7 at 9am for its next scheduled action.
