SOCCER DROPS 2-0 DECISION TO KUTZTOWN

Stephanie Sikora had a pair of shots including one that hit the crossbar for the Golden Eagles

Box Score KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Despite a pair of shots each from Stephanie Sikora and Liz Ventura, the Clarion University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 road decision at Kutztown Friday afternoon.
 
Kutztown (4-3 overall, 4-3 PSAC) scored a goal in each period while limiting the Golden Eagles (3-2-2, 3-2-2) to just four shots, two on goal in the contest.
 
The Golden Bears first goal came early in the 36th minute when Taylor Higgins put in a rebound off a Sam Costello shot.
 
Sikora had a chance to tie the game early in the 60th minute on a fast break, but her shot hit the crossbar.
 
Kutztown then put the game away late in the 69th minute when Alaina Curry scored her third of the season on a header to the left side off a crossing pass from Costello.
 
The Golden Bears actually had plenty of opportunities to score putting 16 shots on the Clarion net, but Golden Eagle keeper Laura Saussol continued her brilliant play making 14 saves.
 
Clarion returns to action at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mansfield.
